I really wanted to like WebAssembly but it's not what I expected it would be at all. It's far harder to use, and too far from writing desktop apps. I expect in a decade, scientific app developers and users will be complaining that nothing they built 10 years ago still works and can't be recovered without serious software re-architecture.
