Fascinating discovery that will have long term implications for longevity research! I now wonder if caloric restriction works partially because when we're ingesting calories, we're often ingesting cooked DNA, which, according to this research can cause DNA damage in humans.

    They short-circuited a whole raft of metabolic pathway filters and upped the concentration considerably so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet. That said, it's interesting research and the result of single prions making it past that filters is what got us BSE so researching this sort of thing is important.
