Ask HN: Startup Scene in LA / Palm Springs?

I'm down in Palm Springs and LA for 4 weeks in October and would love to learn about the startup scenes and work remotely in some co-working spaces.

I don't know much about either city, and assume LA has drastically more going on. What are some areas, neighbourhoods, or spaces worth checking out?
