I don't have a Facebook account and I don't have follower on Twitter ... I'm not sure what trying to be viral gains you in this case. I'd be happy to give them my e-mail address if they were going to send encouragement, interesting/useful information and tips, but I get the feeling I'm signing up to be sold something.

It's good feedback that we should highlight the free course and encouragement we give you a chance to opt into.

http://www.landingpages107.com specifically. It's a 10 part email course with 9 worksheets you can use to improve your conversion rates. There are some subtle ads in that email course for our service... but we get great feedback on the content of the course.

When it comes to viral gains. It doesn't really matter much if you don't have many followers... sometimes it just takes one. :)

This is the sort of contest a lot of our customers have been asking to run lately and we're experimenting by running one ourselves so we can improve our own customer experience.

Agree. For me anything that says, "LIKE X on Facebook." is an instant non-starter. At least give people an alternative, non-social registration mechanism.

In fact, if there is an old-fashioned non-social way to do it, I'm more inclined to actually use facebook or twitter since it doesn't seem so pushy.

      Hi,

I am one of the founders of KickoffLabs.

Liking on Facebook is just one of the ways to enter. However, after re-reading the content I can see how that is not very clear.

You can also enter with just an email and you are free to share the link in more traditional methods.

I get where you are coming from on liking. I rarely do this myself, but it is an important option for many of our customers and one of the goals of the contest was to help showcase our product.

      Thanks for the feedback. -Scott

We don't actually force anything. We could, of course, check to see if you liked us on Facebook... but even that's a loose check since it's easy to unlike something anyway.

The goal is to help others improve their launches with the email course and for us to build a larger audience... through Facebook, Twitter, and Email.
