Democrats win control of Congress; experts say little will change for Europe

the article touches on this, but I think Europe needs to come to terms with the fact that we're never going back to the good old days (but what even is the good old days? The relationship have been evolving continuously as is natural).

Europe should see it as an opportunity that the US is withdrawing direct influence on the European continent and be ready to take the reins itself and become a real player.

Waiting for a potential different style candidate after the next election and basing your internal policies on that is a loser's game.
