What "ten sorts in ten languages" say about the abstraction we're living through

The post got me wondering if one could (even crudely) fingerprint the make, model, and vintage of $AnonymousLanguageRuntimeBinary, by triggering a "sort fail" style complexity explosion of, well, sort, but also perhaps other common Big-O-sensitive language apis of standard libraries.
