Ask HN: Anyone patching servers by prompting AI instead of SSH/remote desktop?
I did exactly this yesterday and it worked great. Not super critical systems, but almost 10 devices, so it saved me a lot of time. I use a small connector that gives my local claude or codex access to the whole fleet (only when I ask for it), no SSH, firewalls or VPNs needed.

I tried it yesterday before Ubuntu released the PHP update and it worked. I didn’t fully trust the setup, so I rolled back and installed the PHP update from Ubuntu after it was released.
Yes, but as a normal user.. any sudo commands I take care of. AI still uses SSH as the tunnel. and I have AI verify the outcome.
