Eigenmoon: linear algebra puzzles by moonlight
eigenmoon.vercel.appNot really playable
It's a great start, but I find it very hard to understand what is happening because I can't control the animation as the "vector space" animates between the stages. The shapes of the gates are also very hard to distinguish (mostly all some form of rectangle) and the click targets aren't very forgiving.
Outside of the UI/UX issues it's a great idea, and I would probably play all the levels if those were fixed.
Another UX issue is that, for me, dragging up and down rotates the scene in the opposite direction than I expect. Even once I realised it, I found it really hard to control, like wearing mirror glasses.
This is such a bad error, wonder if they even tested it
I feel the same. It took a me a while to realise that I needed to click on the white tile to place a transformation. Though I'm now stuck on the second level as there aren't any tiles! The menu in the top left is very confusing.
I have no idea what any of the buttons do. A little text goes a long way
Very pretty but needs some instructions or other affordances. I have no idea what to do.
I'll add a tutorial :)
Construct a sequence of basic transformations that turns the initial grid into the target grid. Each of the portals performs a certain transformation, the ring one, for example, rotates around the axis selected at the top by the amount selected around the ring.
ah! you have to click on the glowing white square in the middle!
I was rotating all around and couldn't figure out what to actually do.
This definitely needs a tutorial.
Needs a tutorial, totally unclear what you're supposed to do.
Really nice work. Fixing all the operations to one axis except rotation was a great decision.
Is it meant to be playable on a desktop with a mouse?
There is a hint in a form of a ripple, but left-clicking hinted element does nothing and left-click-and-holding rotates the puzzle, so it's not clear how to proceed.
Fun puzzles. I feel like gates are hard to distinguish from one another, except for the rotation and translation ones.
The navigation is incredibly frustrating. You need to rethink orbiting/panning/zooming. Maybe allow for mirroring X/Y orbiting and loosening constraints.
