What do you usually do while waiting for your copilot to get done?
Hey all, curious to know how you handle this workflow of managing copilots. You no longer have "flow" in that you are not really doing the programming and it's more managerial, but what you do between prompts? Do you try to multitask on multiple programming features, or other tasks?
When I have to wait for the agent to do its thing (usually <5 mins), I'll usually stand up and stretch, go to the bathroom, get a snack or drink, do a quick house chore. In general, try to use the time to do something of value that will "pay off" either for my body, mind, or home. Sometimes, other work stuff needs attention, chats, emails, JIRA housekeeping, etc, but it's still a good idea to get up and stretch now and then.
so you want a recipe against boredom and bore-out?
I have several projects at my hand. When one is working, I usually head to the other projects and check whats going on in there.
Usually I stay vague in my project-prompts, so there's is a lot of explanation and advice from claude and its agents to read over, to consume and think about and to develop new ideas or solutions (canibalize other projects things for new iterations, appproaches and such). I keep them busy, so they feed my non-busy time.
I read documentation, talk to Claude about stuff I do not know, that I am ashamed not knowing and that my colleagues are talking about (why is Rust so hot?) and I play some little video games.
