uBlock Origin Lite is back on Firefox add-ons
addons.mozilla.orgIs it better than regular uBlock origin? I thought (possibly wrongly) that the "lite" version was for inferior browsers with a crippled Adblocking API.
Yes, it is meant for the manifest v3 browsers. I think it has a simpler interface so it may be useful to non technical people.

It was only created as a workaround to Google killing proper adblock related API support for manifest v3, it's definitely worse than regular ublock origin.
It was gone?
Specifically for Firefox. This was a really big deal when it happened[0], not because it was the best ad blocker, but because Mozilla's policies managed to put what I'd consider excessive strain on a reputable developer[1].
Maybe the lite? I'm running the OG.
I have to wonder what is the appeal of the lite version over the OG on Firefox. I had previously assumed that the lite version only existed for browsers that blocked the functionality of the full version. Meanwhile, I'm still running uMatrix in Firefox.
The lite version has better performance since it’s effectively just a bunch of MV3 blocklists.

I think in practice ublock origin lite results in worse overall performance than regular ublock origin since it's worse at blocking ads(which cause more performance issues than the ad-blocker itself).
Are there any downsides to that approach? No custom CSS, for instance?
It lacks a lot of features compared to the "real" uBlock Origin: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBOL-home/wiki/Frequently-as...
