Book of Shapes – Collection of minimal, generative and customizable SVG-patterns
bookofshapes.comBeautiful. Reminds me of the amazing visual art of Adam Fuhrer[1].
Etienne Jacob has similar vibes: https://bleuje.com/animationsite/2024_1/ And quite satisfying.
Wow.
I've been building something similar[1], but focused more on generating desktop/mobile wallpapers based on a desktop theme.
Most of the designs is build via python-scripts that generate the final SVG's which then can be recolored in browser. Claude + a harness is surprisingly adept at generating these scripts, i guess pelicanmaxxing might be the reason?
yah i like this, i downloaded a bunch, thanks
Is this a rip of turtletoy[1] content?
Why would it be a ripoff? Generative art sites are like this.
Turtle toy is really neat, thanks for the tip.
Cool Page. But I did not know it when creating bookofshapes ;)
But your clanker probaly did. ;)
What’s with calling AI “clanker”? I’m seeing it more and more, and, honestly, the more I see it the stupider it sounds.
It's basically a derogatory term for AI. I've seen it used the same way a slur would be used to berate a person.
Got that from context; I’m just baffled, really. Seeing people call AI “clankers” is like watching a third grader call another “poopy head”. It’s just depressingly infantile.
who knows with vibe-coded stuff?
Looks useful. I was experimenting with making an SVG creator tool that can churn out shapes that go beyond the shape library of microsoft powerpoint -- so my slides can stand out. Things like a hexagon with rounded corners, squircle, swooshes and blobs etc.
Patterns like these are useful as well.
One problem which I've had working in this space is the difficulty of naming specific shapes --- worked up a list in my current project:
https://github.com/WillAdams/gcodepreview/blob/main/gcodepre...
(should be section 3.8.1.1 on pg. 97, not sure, since I need to push up an update)
and I'd be glad of any comment or correction or point of improvement.
Forgive my non-creative brain but who is this for? and how/where can this be used?
It’s research. It’s not for anyone, until someone who needs it sees it and starts using it.
Amazing! this is beautiful.
This site is great, very cool.
Wow, how did you create these?
AI obviously.
unimportant detail but the Liked button doesn't show any shape
Very nice collection!
