Show HN: Hamilton – a no-internet Android health dashboard, named after my dog
play.google.comI started experimenting with LLMs and decided I wanted to create a fitness app. My first thought was an app that disabled Google Pay every time my phone detected I was within 50m of a McDonald's.
However, I quickly pivoted like a true founder to create an app that addressed a personal issue of mine.
On Android, if you have a bunch of apps and fitness monitors from different manufacturers, very few of them all talk to each other. Your data is scattered across different apps or double counted. However, most data sources write to Health Connect.
Hamilton is a dashboard of your Health Connect data with a homepage that shows your key metrics at a glance. Your choice of data source is flexible to avoid double counting, and you can overlay and offset metrics on charts to view correlations and track progress over time.
I named the app after my dog, who occasionally fetches things and is responsible for my daily step count.

Ngl, at least for me, an AI-generated logo is immediately off-putting, even if the app itself is actually great. Just taking a similar icon from something like The Noun Project would probably be better if you can't make one yourself or ask someone for it. (I understand the logo is of your dog! It's the specific ugly AI-generated style I'm talking about, not the contents)
I'm also not really sure on how this app is better than the other similarly vibecoded Health Connect dashboards which are open source and cost nothing:

Not rude at all. Fair on both counts.
I could use a photo of Hamilton, but depending on grooming stage he veers between looking like a freshly clipped sheep or a scruffy mess. I'd have to grab him at exactly the right time. Plus I don't think I could get him to wear the headband.
If the free ones do what you need, then they would be great choices. I guess my target market is people who don't even know F-Droid exists, or would rather stick to the Play Store.
Plus none of those apps are dog-related.

I wanted a dog my whole adult life, and my wife and daughter finally relented when I turned 50, on the condition that they chose the name and the breed. So I got a dog called Hamilton, and a lifetime of people asking if he's named after the musical. Or Lewis Hamilton.
The only dog whistle he responds to are crisp packets rustling.
