Given the dangers of AI hacking (which must be directed) given that our oligarchs own the AI systems and are currently unregulated?

Future tense unnecessary. AI is currently, right now, affecting virtually everything. Anything you see, hear, or read, whether on social media or anywhere else, is already strongly influenced, if not completely created, by AI.
Even things that you are almost sure were made by a human still carry a seed of doubt, and that's all it takes for AI to have a massive influence.
