iCloud backup – 5GB available, but I can't use it
Whoever is the product manager that decided to block partial photo uploads to iCloud because the photo library exceeds the space available online, I hope you lose all your family photos one day. I hope it's because another product manager decided this for you, and you have no recourse, and I hope that they are gone forever.
I know Apple Corporation is not a startup, but I know the employees browse this website. Basically everyone is doing a very bad job lately.
I'm going to go buy a flash drive so that I don't need to install garbage apple software to my computer in addition to the garbage apple software on my phone.
Thank you for reading.
How would they decide which 5GB gets backed up? A partial backup also gives a false sense of security, as it’s not a backup.
There are other services that will backup photos on iOS to the cloud, some for free (at least at one point, not sure if they still do), although that usually means lower quality backups, not the originals.
To me, the $2.99/month I pay for 200GB of backup space is worth not having to be angry all the time about storage limits.
by date. (doesn't matter if ascending or descending, as long as it's consistent)
$2.99 is like $.02 times 150.
Use a different photo backup service. Presumably thanks to the EU, iOS finally allows other apps to backup photos https://www.macobserver.com/news/ios-26-1-will-let-third-par...
a usb drive is a different backup service, this is what I will do. no need to upload to yet-another-saas.
If you really hate Apple, you should just buy a different brand, there is nobody forcing you guying Apple devices.
My options are essentially Kang and Kodos[1] when it comes to smartphones, but I think this has finally pushed me to go get a flip phone and be done with the insanity.
I'll probably still keep one or two around to check mobile viewport on stuff I'm making. MFA/2FA is probably going to be a pain also.
