Ask HN: Why are onionv3 services not more popular?
Today, you can create any utility or service you would like, and securely access them with gold standard privacy.
Why is this not way more widespread?
Tor itself is not that popular - just 500k users in US:

Slow and TCP only. Also requires client to have software that raises the odds that you're doing something sketchy.
I did use them in the past to access my homelab via SSH but replaced that a long time ago with VPN.
Isn't v2 completely deprecated?
Or are you asking why arent more people using Tor in general?
Domain names are random, cant memorize them. Solving that requires centralization or blockchain of some sorts.
Specifically hosting via onion service.
I don't see how it's an issue when qr codes and bookmarks are a thing.
Why do you need to memorize it?
