I was looking for the origin of the word "hyperscalers" and found this post. Thought it would be interesting to share with the HN audience.
Recently 'hyperscalers' tied up with cloud service provider.
This is more of a finance or economics term?
'Hyperscalers' is the term used to refer to the group of companies including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, etc. The companies with huge data centers basically. I know at least in the telecom sector it is also used to refer to this group of customers.
