So much good stuff in this article.

3M realising that he only made them look bad, but the other side's lawyer calling him instead since the ChatGPT situation was so bad that it was actually helping their case.

Him asking ChatGPT what the gas detector even is (although to be fair, I think he was mostly just trying to get a brand name there).

The transcript of the lawyer grilling him like a teacher telling off a naughty child.

And the fact that they noticed AI writing got the AI transcripts in the first place to find all this out.

from 404: in some of the chats he changed the subject from his expert witness testimony to having ChatGPT generate t-shirt images

from the expert witness, while attaching an image: "what am i looking at in terms of gas detection system"

also from the expert witness: "will prosecution go after me for never having been [an expert witness] before based on wording and how do I defend that?"

incredible.

$425/hr to be a sloperator. I wonder if it was worth it.

$475! But unless he has no conscience at all I doubt it was, really - standing up in court being told off for cheating on your homework by everyone, and pretty much ruining the case you were trying to defend, has gotta be something to wake you up in a cold sweat at 3am for a while. Plus imagine the initial panic when they noticed AI writing and asked to see his chat transcripts.
