For those wondering, <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_S._F._Cooper_Jr.>

Article does a great job of conveying the stress involved for a non-actor to play even a tiny part in a big movie like this, but yeesh, it'd be a dream come true to get even the tiniest part in one of the greatest movies of all time (IMO obviously), let alone to luck into it this way by pure happenstance.

I remembered the scene vaguely, but was curious to go back and see it. It happens at roughly 7 minutes 19 seconds into the movie, intercut into the initial awards scene, and right before Willem Dafoe's nephew gives Steve a seahorse in a bag.

I can relate to the bit actor's feeling of relating to this story 8-/

I also really feel a kinship to The Life Aquatic.

I love sailing and being on the ocean, and I'm also past my prime and down on my luck in comparison to those glory days, and when reminded of some of the things I've said and done, have to agree that "that was me, I can live with that"

One of my all time favorite movies...

Beautifully written! Life aquatic is one of my favorite movies. Coincidentally father-son relationship is the central theme of the movie!

He really did look like Bill Murray - when I got to the photo I wasn't sure if it really was Bill or the authors father..

Bizarre seeing this since I'm currently listening to The Life Aquatic soundtrack while I work.

The artist, Seu Jorge, did a dedication performance to Bowie and the movie recently, in case you haven't seen it. [0]

Great soundtrack. My favourite scene that uses music in the film is when 'Search and Destroy' plays when shooting pirates:

Great article actually. Mirrors the mournful tone of the film.

Yeah, I loved the montage scene with the intro of Gut Feeling from Devo...

To add to this, Mark Mothersbaugh, Devo's lead vocalist, composed the score for the film, as he has for many of Anderson's films.
