Snapchat might be one of the fragrantly least private ways to message. I get that it's hard to change the culture on what apps people use, but this was just a poor choice. Snapchat is loaded to the brim with spyware, spam, scams, and automated surveillance.

She should have watched the famous video, "Don't Talk to the Police" https://youtube.com/watch?v=d-7o9xYp7eE (in addition to not writing a stupid message in the first place).

The video is good, but it's advice about what to do when police want to talk to you. It doesn't cover things you already put in writing. By the time there's a message sitting in someone's inbox, that ship has sailed, and the useful advice becomes "get a lawyer before you say anything further," which isn't the point the video is making. Posting it here reads more like reflex than analysis of what actually happened.

Also, "stupid message" is a swipe, and it's in parentheses, so it isn't even carrying any weight in your comment. The guidelines ask people to edit those out.

It’s worse than that.

Title should be “Private Snapchat DM to 3 people reached the FBI and led to an arrest in an hour.”

The AI assisted police surveillance state is fully operational.
