The problem with the premise is that there are people who are great at appearing genuine, authentic and interested — without being so.

One usually says they would make great salespeople. How do you tell a difference, and does it even matter if you, as the recipient, feel the connection?

But ultimately, the social "automation" we have wired is really — at least partially — nurture, as us millenials and older have a hard time empathising with these chat app social connections (WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram, iMessage...) that younger generations live and breathe.

Some of the human connection comes from the earliest bonds we make with our family (hugs, kisses, looks, touches...), so we'll always have that as the baseline, but I ađ not sure we cannot change quite a bit of it too (and we have over time).

    The appearance of genuine, authentic interest would functionally appear to be the same as the actual true nature of it. I would imagine that the more frequent those connections are, the more likely leaks will appear that in turn signals the dishonest nature of the connection.
