Scenario with Low Demand for AI
Imagine a scenario where AI hardware has been built at a massive scale, but the demand for using it for commercial AI is lower than the capacity. What do you think will happen? Will the hardware be turned off and wait, or will it be removed and replaced, or will the owners donate the compute to science, or something else? Mine cryptocurrency. Rent extra capacity for other purposes. If neither of those is profitable, sell in anticipation of FLOPs being cheaper by the time they need it again.
