Ask HN: How much trouble do you have with GitHub?

2 points by Myzel394 9 days ago · 4 comments · 1 min read

I've been seeing a lot of hackernews articles in the last 2 weeks talking about how people have issues with GitHub being down, Actions causing issues, people leaving GitHub, and even some building a website to show the outages as contributions.

As a European user I've rarely had any issues with GitHub. I've been on GitHub for ~7 years now, and honestly, I can't recall the last time I had issues with it. I may have seen the site being down for like 3/4 times, and I cannot recall ever having issues with GitHub Actions, or any other product of GitHub.

So my question, especially to the European users out here, how much trouble do you actually have with GitHub? I wanna know if people here are vastly exaggerating the outages, or whether this just seems to be affecting US people.

Almost no issues. I don't use Github CI though.

Their usage has absolutely skyrocketed: https://github.blog/news-insights/company-news/an-update-on-...

I stopped checking failure emails from GitHub Actions unless they happens half a dozen times or so a day because I get more false negatives (GitHub Actions issue not my workflow issue) than legitimate notifications I can act on. I'm from Europe too.

Well currently commenting on PRs isn't working. I'd say we notice this kind of issue once every few weeks or so. It's not the end of the world but also not great for a service that we pay for and which used to be more reliable.

i'm at this point - 30 min of copilot is required for final launch. Out of 100 copilot requests - 70 have failed today. this last 1 percent is seriously burning my soul.
