Ask HN: Why do you flag a service when it goes down?
I once posted on HN when Claude went down and when ChatGPT went down, and my post was flagged. Now that someone else has posted about Stripe, I’ve seen a few people flag it, and I’m curious—is there a reason for this? (I don't tend to flag these unless there's been a deluge of them or the outage is over) There are numerous, much more reliable, services that address this. "<x> is down" posts here tend to be inaccurate, spammy, and generally not of interest. If someone says {site} is down but people are able to reach it they will flag the post. In some cases the site was up but some functionality was broken and the poster did not correctly elaborate in what way the site was unusable thus leading to people believing this were incorrect as they were able to get a web page.
