Hi HN,

After shutting down my YC startup late last year , I’ve been spending some time rebuilding my product and engineering muscles by revisiting old ideas in my notebooks.

This is one of them: https://www.personalcolorai.com

The idea came from a trip to Korea where “personal color analysis” is very popular but usually costs $200–$300 per session. I wondered if it was possible to approximate something similar using the latest AI tools and a simple selfie.

The site lets you upload a photo and it returns:

• your Korean color season • a few colors from your palette • a celebrity “color twin” (both Korean and US)

To be clear, this is not technically groundbreaking. I have not created anything new or novel and I am fully aware this is as far from impressive as possible. It was mostly an excuse to get familiar with some newer tools and force myself to ship something small instead of endlessly tinkering. I have always been on the Ops/Sales/Marketing side of startups and wanted to try something on the product side :)

If anyone here takes a look, I’d really appreciate feedback. HN is usually very good at quickly identifying the weak spots in a project.

Thanks for checking it out and please let me know if you have any feedback or questions.

A bit more context in case anyone is curious:

This project originally came from a trip to Korea where I learned about personal color analysis. The in-person sessions are interesting but often cost a few hundred dollars, so I wrote down the idea years ago of trying to approximate it with software.

I finally built a quick version as a learning project.

There’s nothing particularly sophisticated happening under the hood. The goal was mostly to get more comfortable working with modern AI tooling and to practice shipping small things again after a long stretch working inside a startup.

If anyone experiments with it, I’d be especially interested in:

• cases where the color analysis is clearly wrong • UX things that feel confusing or clunky • obvious technical improvements • or just general thoughts on whether the idea is interesting at all

Appreciate any feedback!
