Ask HN: What makes a great programmer vs what makes a great SRE?
I'm curious what the community thinks the differences and similarities are in terms of: - what deliberate practice looks like for each - what sort of content they consume and why - how they approach their career in the long term, assuming they want to remain technical (keeping this one purposely vague)
If anyone has lived in both worlds, I'd especially love to hear your thoughts.
