Glyph is an open-source, local-first Markdown notes app for macOS built with Rust (Tauri)

It stores notes as plain files, supports fast search, wikilinks/backlinks, and includes optional AI chat, including implementation of Codex so you can use your chatgpt sub, all without requiring a cloud-first workflow.

This looks nice, but there is nothing that explains why I should invest in it over any of the other dozen note-taking apps that support markdown. Why should I pay for this rather than stay with Obsidian? I'm not hating on this tool, I'm advising the developer they need to be more aggressive in convincing me it's worth the investment in money and time to make the switch.

Hey, developer here. Honestly, the biggest advantage I think is the overall footprint of the app (35MB compared to 500 for obsidian), as well as native AI support and just the sheer simplicity of it.

Obviously, there are so many note-taking apps these days. Most of them tend to just blend into one. Thanks for the feedback, though, no hate taken :)

It's Tauri, I'm not sure that's an honest declaration. I say this as someone who also uses Tauri.

Fair, not everyone knows Tauri. Rust is more recognizable, I guess.
