He is misinformed. Employment laws aren’t new, they’re the laws these countries adopted when they became independent because that is all the law they knew, since when they were colonies, these were the laws they lived under, and similarly to Europe, they didn’t know better. Also, neither does the US. I get the downside of these laws, but the jury is still out on whether lax employment protections are the solution.
