Ask HN: Why are there no talks about Seedance 2.0 on Hacker News?
Generated videos that I see from ByteDance’s Seedance 2.0 model are pretty ground breaking (compared to Sora, Google Veo and such).
Genuinely surprised not to see a lot of chatter about it on HN! HN is very interested in coding agents, and many are interested in voice AI. Not so much video generation, perhaps because its still so limited . I see quite a lot on X. The specs they have for Seedance 3.0 look insane, I wonder if they can pull it off. That one looks like fake news to me. But we will see. I think the next iteration may reach 1-2 minutes instead of 15 seconds, so we will see 5 minutes of stitched together videos instead of 1-2 mins. I hate to sound like a broken record, but the HN crowd is mostly uninterested in AI use. Much of the news is commentary around AI, but there's less interest in using it as a technology. Seedance 2 is a lot like the DeepSeek moment last year. I fully expect it to blow up and then degrade into conversations about politics. But usually the hype overwhelms X first. Probably because it isn't officially released yet. AI Fatigue. I'm a fan of AI but I've stopped clicking on stories about it because it's mostly hype, slop, fomo, and flat-out lies. Take a look at the fraction of slop posts about AI on /new and what gets to the front page. Frankly who cares about another model that is samey with all the other models? We all know there's going to be a better one in 0.10 sec.
