Every tech commercial in this year's Super Bowl sucked
Someone had to say it. Overall the theme for Superbowl ads was "getting high on our own supply." When you've got an audience that big you need to to be speaking to everyone in a language they can understand and way too many ads, tech or not, were just unfunny inside jokes. Not just high, demolished. I thought Anthropic's commercials were pretty good at skewering advertising in AI, but from an effectiveness standpoint I don't know how much Joe Sixpack cares about (or is even aware of) different AI companies. Totally agree. It’s all the same to more than most people. And I don’t think anyone’s going to switch to Anthropic because of ads. They’ll switch because it’s a better product. Most people haven't even used any AI at all. None of these ads gave a reason as to why they should even start. Better than the nft and crypto commercials of years past. Coinbase did have one of the ultra boring commercials. I couldn't figure it out until the very last word of the commercial, "Coinbase". The Anthropic one bagging on ChatGPT likely adding ads was pretty funny. The rest were forgettable. Agreed, but seemed like it was only funny if you’re an AI power user. Presumably the general population is more concerned about data privacy than ads (as part of a service). Seems like sowing distrust in any form is a bad move for everyone. The general population has never used any of these products and haven't heard of most of them except maybe ChatGPT in passing. All these AI ads had the same problem as the crypto ones of years past, nobody is going to understand WTF any of this stuff is because it's all too inside baseball.
