Ask HN: What serious task have you accomplished with Moltbot / OpenClaw?

I'm genuinely curious. I've read a lot of stories of people adding it to group chats, using it as a remote coding and research assistant, or getting it to clean up folders and inboxes. This is all interesting, but nothing that couldn't have been accomplished with the tooling that was already in place.

I'd like to hear stories like "it accurately filed my taxes", "it organized and booked all tickets for my trip from A to B", or "it successfully executed a cold email campaign with a 30% open rate". These stories must be out there - would you mind sharing them?

I always asked my wife to send me a calendar invite for stuff like appointments, kids events, etc. She rarely did and I couldn't really plan my work around life. Now she just texts our bot from Telegram about the event and bot creates an event on our family calendar and invites my work email.

Just works!

I've done something similar. I don't know if it counts as a "serious task" as OP is requesting, but it's super helpful for me.

    A few things:

    1. Each week my son's school sends an "At A Glance" email with the schedule for the week and upcoming weeks. It includes things like fields trips, dress down days, early dismissals, etc. OpenClaw looks for that email each Sunday evening then finds things relevant to my son and adds them to the family calendar. It's really great!

    2. I registered my kids for a weekend program. Sent OpenClaw a screenshot of the dates (via Telegram) and asked it to add the dates to the family calendar.

    3. The way I "bookmark" things is to add them to an #inbox channel in my personal Slack. I even use an iOS shortcut to add them from Safari on my iPhone. This morning I had OpenClaw roll through and categorize everything I saved in January so I can revisit anything I'd like to and I also posted a quick blog post with things I saved in January 2026.

It feels so powerful but like others I'm nervous about giving it too much access, so I'm treading carefully. I have it running on an exe.dev VM and it talks to me through telegram and a personal slack account. Currently RO access to email, write access only to the family calendar, plus my personal Slack.

Right so it's basically automating the drudgery of your life. Freeing you up for more time with the moments that matter. That is so cool.

I think the phenomena of clawdbot/openclaw is stark and epitomized by the divide between people who "get it" and who "don't". This creator (Peter Steinberger) is inspiring for his ability to create something at the edge of tomorrow, seeing the future and heading towards it, making up history as he goes along.

The fact that the thing is so useful and viral for so many, but also so many incumbent/established techos have been caught (no disparagement) with their intellectual/product-mind pants down shows the significance of this. Also the significance of moments like this: which will surely increases as AI unlocks more imaginative, future thinking creators to realize their dreams.

I think those of us who didn't get it at first, I was one, need this wake up call to see reality more clearly and ask: what is possible? Let's not be stuck in narrow views, let's remain open and just think, "We can build whatever we need."

I love it when people like this come along that are inspiring, and show us there are more possibilities than we had thought of. I hope you all embrace this as the expander that it is. AI can expand your capacilities and output, but moments like this can expand you. And that's even more valuable because everything you create ultimately has to come from you! With love from somewhere on Earth.

Nice but if a simple bot can do it, then I'd feel bad about deploying a big, expensive agent...

I guess its easy to add more behavior with plain instructions? That would be a departure from a simple bot..

Why is that easier than her making the event?
