Perhaps if it is a toy for learning, sure.
But should you?
Why the comparison? There are obvious risks to rolling your own crypto or auth solutions. That concern doesn’t apply to an editor though.
Many years ago I've used Editra under Linux, it was crashing and losing my unsaved changes at least once a day.
Sure, these days you could (and should) use source control, but still I would be concerned about using a non vetted editor for my code.
Random person: Hey guys, I used my prusa 3d 4932q3 to build this toy replica airplane, check it out.
You: Oh yeah!? Bbbbut how about when your toy airplane has to fly at mach 23 through a warzone and be shot at by AA guns and laser sharks and all the other fighter jets, huh? Will your toy work then? Ha?! Your prusa sux!!!
Come on man, use your energy on something else. Stop fighting imagined monsters online.
