Ask HN: How do I convince my CTO to try AI again?
He is very talented but is maybe the least interested person in AI generating/reviewing code and borderline dismissive. I agreed a year ago but things have changed.
He is not championing the effort on the team and as a result the rest of the team is either mostly not using it or just not disclosing it.
He is more senior and in general the senior engineers seem the most existentially stressed or indifferent.
It feels like we’re moving very slowly compared to the competition now and I’m unsure how to convince him to reevaluate LLM’s use in our development work. Weird - it should be completely up to the developers, whether they write code by hand or partially/mostly with LLMs. If the code meets set standards and the author understands it all - why does it matter whether it was written by a human or machine? I don’t think it does but if the person leading the (relatively small ~10 person) engineering team is dismissive and not championing it then it ends up in this weird place where people are unsure if they can/should use it.
