Ask HN: People who tried both, how does Waymo compare to Tesla Robotaxi?

You will have trouble finding genuine comparisons. As a recall, there were some press trips to Austin that compared Tesla Robo taxi to Waymo. But as with any press publicity, it can be a carefully curated experience. Even the much-publicized empty Tesla Robo taxis with no safety driver on board turned out to be followed by a "chase car."

As others on this thread have pointed out, there may be a lot less to Tesla Robo taxi coverage than has been promoted in the press, never mind all the Teslafluencers.

There were reports this week that Tesla might actually be running fewer cars in Austin than people think.

I’ve never used either, but Waymos don’t need a safety driver, Tesla’s pseudoRoboTaxis do.
