Just remember that often acquisitions don't result in the benefits of the startup with the resources of the incumbent but rather they shut it down, or change its practices, or find other ways to get rid of it. A lot of buyouts are to remove competition, not to be better.

People keep talking about how it was such a mistake to not buy YouTube or Netflix or whatever, but they only became as successful as they did because they weren't what their competition was. That's how it works.
