Show HN: Understand Mortgage Cash Flows
linemo.horaceg.xyzA while ago, I was wondering if I should buy a home. Then I tried to understand how mortgage loan work, and what the interest rate represents.
A few hours later, this (static) web app was born. It's a glorified calculator that allows you to answer two questions:
- how much interest will I pay in addition to the principal (the amount being borrowed).
- Whether I should buy my home or keep renting. This is super useful for my current situation. Thank you for sharing this good work. I’d be interested in knowing more about your views on the future of housing market and how it’s going to impact the results of calculations. Great post! It also depends on where you live. Some cities have crazy real estate prices and it’s growing super fast. Would be great if we could see the results vary depending on the countries /cities!
