Ask HN: How cam I auto-switch shared Google Meet tab?

1 points by ani17 a month ago · 2 comments · 1 min read

I use Google Meet frequently with the "Share a tab" feature. The main pain point is that when I switch to a different tab, I often forget to click the "Share this tab instead" button that appears in the banner at the top of the browser. I initially thought this could be solved with a simple Chrome extension to automatically click the button, but I discovered that the button is part of the browser's native UI, not the webpage's DOM. I'd appreciate any help or direction! Since this is strictly for personal use, any hacky or "backdoor" script solution would be perfectly acceptable.

Edit: Pls ignore the typo in the title. Thanks

Could you share the whole window instead of one tab at a time?

Definitely an alternative solution. For the purpose of this script, I wouldn't prefer that though.
