Ask HN: Transition to Management?
Going through some hardcore career burnout that has been lasting for far too long. Boring and not meaningful work, massive team and horrible oncall. Interviewed and got a manager opportunity for a team I think is quite interesting, but have zero management experience. Anyone enjoy this transition to gain new perspective?
I enjoy helping people and have a decent engineering background. This is at a “big tech/faang adjacent” company There are a few articles in the old blog of Joel Spolsky https://www.joelonsoftware.com/ try going to the bottom and clicking "Tech Lead" and "Program Manager".
