Ask HN: Any interest in a HashiCorp Consul fork?
There don’t seem to be any credible open source forks of HashiCorp Consul and the traction from HashiCorp has fallen quite a bit recently in the main repo. I was the lead maintainer for Consul from 2015 to 2018 (versions 0.5.2 through 1.0.6) and would be willing to start one if there’s enough community interest. There are some long-neglected feature requests for things like dynamic tags but Consul in general doesn’t seem like it should take on a bunch of new features. I almost lean towards making a more streamlined version of it, but am curious what the community thinks. Would this be interesting to anyone out there and what would you like to see?
