Show HN: Launch Hacker News like community on your Domain
Hi HN,
I built https://kocial.net, a platform that enables anyone to create their own branded community space, complete with features such as posts, reactions, and comments, similar to Hacker News, all without needing to write a single line of code.
You can use your own Custom domain as well for your community, like the community below:
- Indie Hackers - https://kocial.co
You can also create "invite-only" and "private" communities for your own private customer or fan base. I hope this helps.
I’d love feedback on the UX, performance, or any aspect of the niche. Nice. Are there any communities already? I tried to search for a few phrases and looks like there is no community yet. Is this multi-tenant? UX is good but what about GTM/Growth? Have you thought about how will you get people to use kocial to create communities, over say, using Slack or Discord? Yes, there are a few communities currently available, and you can find them here: https://kocial.net/communities. Some of them are not available for search and lists because of their visibility status of "private" - Yes, it is multi-tenant; people can create their own community and use their own domain, like kocial.co. I have some plans, but I'm seeking feedback here first. It's not possible to see the content of the communities without registering. Why https://kocial.co is not listed in the communities pages. (Yes, I understand, but you may add it anyway.) Is the login the same for all communities (like a subredit) of in each community I can have a different secret identity? - To encourage engagement at the initial stage, we have an auth wall for content inside the community, but community owners can change that when they create and choose their domain. - You can create a community and explicitly mention whether you want your community to be listed and available for search in the community marketplace. The community owner has that option. - Yes, logins are the same for all communities (like Reddit), currently there is no option to have a different secret for each community. But that sounds like a nice feature to have a separate identity for each community, hmmmm, I will add it in my bucket list and will think about it more. Nice! I see it is missing options to upload a file on post. Do you support multiple themes or is in ETA? It was not planned, but not a bad IDEA. I will add this to my feature list.
