The Mystery of Richard Posner

Now that the vast majority of conservatives have completely reversed positions on small government, free trade, rule of law and the US constitution itself, which means they were lying before, or they're lying now, what are we to make of Posner being a "man of the Right"? Was he lying then? Because that would make the mystery about him trivial.
