Hasbro, the custodians of D&D, have no idea what to do with BG3's success

WOTC's struggles with adapting DnD go back much further. During the development of Neverwinter Nights, Bioware was micromanaged intensely by WOTC, down to individual questlines and game mechanics. They ended up shipping a brilliant, powerful storytelling engine and a campaign full of repetitive fetch quests and tedious encounters.
