Ask HN: Is Microsoft moving away from powerful creative Surface devices?

2 points by Nerd_Nest 7 months ago · 0 comments · 1 min read

I noticed that Microsoft has discontinued the Surface Laptop Studio 2, with no clear plans for a Studio 3. At the same time, they're rolling out new Surface models powered by Snapdragon X Plus and Intel Core Ultra chips, emphasizing AI capabilities and battery life. There’s also a growing focus on Copilot+ PCs and Surface for Business, but I’m wondering: Is this a pivot away from performance-heavy, creator-focused hardware like the Studio line? Or is it just a shift in how Microsoft defines “power” in the AI era?
