A new bill could lift the outdated ban on supersonic flight over land
boomsupersonic.com> With Boomless Cruise, a flight from LA to D.C. is 3 hours and 15 minutes instead of 4 hours and 35 minutes, and a flight from Miami to Seattle is only 3 hours and 40 minutes compared to 5 hours and 15 minutes.
That... is not the time savings I expected. I mean, I guess that's a 30% savings, but I somehow expected more.
1600 km/hr is kinda slow for you?
Not slow, but not as fast as expected. I had expected something similar to the concordes ~mach 2 (~2160 km/h) or faster
which tells us that supersonic in this case is true, but that perhaps after mach 1.3, you get the big boom no matter what fancy airodynamic shape you build in fact our current jets are called "transonic" as they are flirting with compresibilty effects on certain parts of the airframes.
It's a lot faster than walking, but it's not a lot faster than taking a regular plane.
