Ask HN: Good laptop alternatives to MacBook Pro for running Linux?

So i'm missing running linux quite a bit since i changed to mac. The only thing keeping me with mac is the great hardware (battery, screen, keyboard, arm cpu low temps and no fan noise)
Are there any real alternatives outside apple that compete in hardware? I've tried asahi but it lack of support for many things turn it off for me. If you want to run Linux, you can do worse than a Thinkpad and probably will. Good luck. why cant u run linux in "great hardware"? Oh missunderstanding here, i meant a great laptop. At the time when i got my mbpro with m1 chip there werent competitors in terms of battery/keyboard/screen and temp/noise. So i'm looking for a laptop with equal great hardware that i can run linux on. Ofc you can run linux on great hardware, makes it even better! I think they had wished to run it directly on Apple silicon as they mention Asahi does not yet support functionality they are looking for. I am unsure what the state of a Linux VM is regarding Apple processors.
