The last paragraph confused me. It refers back to the last time he did this and stated it wasn't proved to be an illegal lottery.

Didn't he pivot heavily from calling it a lottery to claiming he was giving pre-selected individuals money? Similarly to how he claims to be in charge of DOGE all the time except when that would place legal limits on him when suddenly he's just an adviser? Seems blatantly illegal but apparently no one cares anymore.

The fact that this is allowed is insane. This is not even an election (where his doings were already questionable) but a LAWFUL decision! Money has no reason to even play a role here? This is just Oligarchy hidden in disguise as the "ree" democracy of the US

I wouldn't call it lawful. It is illegal and the Wisconsin AG sued to stop it, but the top court declined to hear the case.

Oh no, Mr Musks "speech = $$$$$$$" could be curtailed.

    Is it really hidden?

The US right has begun to weaponize the US left's standard tactics. It would be amazingly good if indirect vote-buying was made illegal but it won't be as democrat donor groups are extremely dependent on strategies like giving voter "gift cards" - something used consistenly in Georgia elections.

There were also grants made by Mark Zuckerberg to help with "election administration". Money is ambitexdrous - if the sock fits on the left, it can fit on the right too.

BUT this specific case is not even vote buying. Merely protest recruitment - strange to be outraged about it when such has been standard operating tactics for both parties in the US for over 2 decades. I guesss it is because Musk is doing this openly instead of doing it via some obnoxiously named NGO in between ?

Exactly. Almost everything the left gets outraged about with the republicans, they themselves having been doing since forever.

Musk's lawyers added that the payments were "intended to generate a grassroots movement..."

Nothing says grassroots like a billionaire government employee handing out novelty size checks for a million bucks.
