Animation breakthrough makes it possible to better illustrate Black hair
npr.orgI first thought the article was about "black hair", as in the hair color and was wondering why that specific color would be difficult to animate.
But it really seems to be about "Black hair", I.e. hair of Black people, I.e. afro hairstyles?
It mentions (in an off-hand, not particularly focal biti) that is about texture (kinky hair, which is the same hair type sometimes called "Jewish Hair", and also common in some Asian/Pacific populations) than style (afro or otherwise.)
It would be more accurate (though still misleading) to call it "human hair", since among mammals kinky hair is unique (but obviously not universal) to humans.
A rendering would have been nice
