Ask HN: Did you change your digital habits since Trump's election?

This is initially directed to US citizens and companies but is actually relevant for everyone worldwide. For sure something big is happening in the USA. Did it make you change the way you are working, studying, chatting with friends... ? Because you disagree and want to boycott, or because you are now scared that your communication could put you / your company in trouble, or for whatever other reasons? Digital is everywhere in our lives, and I am very curious how things are going in the US now.

I guess I did the usual thing: - Cancel Twitter. I was moving to bluesky, so not a big deal. X removed from my webpage.

And some more other stuf: . - Meta: I am not a heavy user, but I just use less Instagram. Not posting. Cannot uninstall Whatsapp for social pressure.

- Amazon: bye bye Prime. I find it a Scam anyway and I try to buy outside AMZ as much as possible. It is easy to find stuff outside AMZ, btw.

- Cloud: I don't use AWS personally. Professionally I won't endorse it.

   - Google: canceled my GCP account. Everything is in Digital ocean and Hetzner. Sill have Gmail and android :-( I won't Rene Google Cloud certification.
I am looking for alternatives to AWS and GCP. Not a fan of Azure, but who knows. For me Hetzner and DO still work. I see Oracle cloud with better eyes right now, but I don't like their billing process.

Your post will probably unfortunately get flagged, but I have observed an increase in my discussions with friends about politics overall, specifically DEI

Twitter was already on the way out but I hardly go on it more than every three or four days anymore.

Most people in my circle are tired, deflated and have given up. And that reflects in our online posts and interactions. Resigned to fear the worst.

I've found conversation to be more spirited and lively, with everyone hopeful that sanity (albeit a weird one - Trump is weird) is finally prevailing over the state of things as they were.

For those of us that were persecuted, bullied, gaslight and discriminated against up until now, we can finally breath a small sigh of relief as there is hope for the future of our children. Remember, children and the next generation are innocent in all of this regardless of side, and they deserve to inherit peace and prosperity, not hatred and discrimination!
