What's up with Lobste.rs blocking the Brave browser?

I find websites punishing users over their choice of browsers to be questionable. But if they're going down that route, why on earth allow Chrome, a mass surveillance product made by the richest ad company in the world? The level of harm being done is so much bigger with Chrome, both in terms of scale and the effect it has on society. It's not even comparable.

the linked discussion shows more and more comments posted by inactive-users so users that have disabled their profile in reaction to lobste.rs decision and decided to leave lobste.rs for more open communities. I wish the best to lobste.rs but clearly they do not fight the right battle here and just close doors. Too bad for them.

The dev just drank all the FUD Kool-Aid, not much else there to it.
