Startups exists to find a solution to a problem someone has, and then to build a product around it. Ideally that problem is not being addressed well for a certain group of people, and there is a chance to improve the lives of those people in a way that makes money.

Essentially, there need to be:

    enough customers out there, that
    you are able to reach with a
    big enough problem that is
    worth them paying you to solve it that
    you are capable of solving.
