An amusing choice because domestic cats absolutely hate the smell of citrus fruits. Try offering an orange peel to your cat to sniff, and they'll probably retch and look at you like "why would you do that?". (Which is good, because it's also significantly toxic to them.)
I mean, retching is a pretty good sign that they got stimulated!
I think any domesticated animal would experiment the same health issues as their owner, due to confinement, etc..
I guess they could consider pre-existing technologies from the internet, namely the Happy Hoodie and Squish That Cat. Putting a cat into a dark familiar box with side opening also helps cause they tend to get anxious in new environments.
